About Coaching Sessions

Your coaching session is just that – yours. It is really important that you tell me what works for you and what doesn’t. It’s all about you.

Each session lasts for around an hour. I usually sell sessions in blocks of six as this is the optimum number of sessions for you to really see results. Please talk to me if you think this will not work for you.

Most sessions follow the GROW model of coaching:

Goal – each session, you will come with an idea of what you want to achieve and what success will look like to you.

Reality – we then explore why that goal is important to you and what your thoughts and feelings are about it.

Options – through a series of questions and prompts, you will decide what approach is going to work for you and how you can best achieve what you want to. I will help you to look at your challenges in a different way and reframe your thinking.

Wrap-up – at the end of the session we will look at the progress you have made, what you have learned and how you will use it in the future.

At least that’s the plan!

Sometimes, the conversation develops a little differently, takes a twist or a turn you weren’t expecting, or it takes more than one session to reach a conclusion. And that’s ok too.

Things I will do:

  • ask open ended questions
  • reflect back to you
  • check my understanding
  • help you to think about things differently
  • summarise what you have said
  • hold space for you to think

Things I won’t do:

  • tell you what to talk about
  • make decisions for you
  • give you advice
  • tell you what I think or what I would do
  • hold you accountable
  • make judgements about you
